Apple’s 20GB iCloud Storage for MobileMe Subscribers Expires

As expected, Apple’s 20GB of complimentary storage for MobileMe subscribers moving to iCloud has expired as of today. Apple reminded its users back in August that the expiration date was set for Sept. 30, and warned that anyone who had more than 5GB of stored data risked losing their backups, iCloud mail and other information.

That said, Apple also promised that anyone who had less than 5GB of stored data on their complimentary 20GB plan wouldn’t lose anything, and that data should now all be moved over to an iCloud server without any issue. Thankfully, Apple also offers additional storage plans, up to 50GB per year for $100, for anyone who needs the added space.

Apple originally promised to take care of MobileMe subscribers as it transitioned to its new iCloud storage plans, which is why it offered the free storage in the first place, though most people should have had plenty of time by now to make the move to iCloud.
