If you assumed Samsung’s next flagship handset would be the Galaxy S5 you may be wrong. A new report from Korean site ETNews claims we may see a new line metallic smartphone from the Seoul-based company under a new Galaxy F series of devices.

The report, which cites alleged “industry sources,” claims the first Galaxy F handset will feature a metal exterior, and come equipped with a 16-megapixel OIS camera and an octa-core processor. ETNews bizarrely notes that the device would run Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, though we’d expect any new flagship from Samsung to run at least Android 4.3 if not 4.4 KitKat. It’s also possible the device could feature that curved display the company has been talking up recently.

It’s not out of the question that Samsung might make a metal smartphone, following the lead of its chief rival Apple as well as competing Android OEMs like HTC. We’re definitely not sold on the name though, and considering ETNews’ spotty track record we wouldn’t take this rumor very seriously.
