Microsoft Posts Latest Surface Event Online

Missed Microsoft’s Surface excitement from earlier today? The Redmond company has already posted its Surface 2 launch event to the Internet, allowing interested parties to see the action unfold as if they were there. The event itself was pretty intimate and low-key, similar to last year’s event, but there was certainly no shortage of announcements, especially on the accessory side.

So what was on display? For starters, Microsoft introduced a new revamped Surface 2, which will run Windows RT 8.1 out of the box, and Surface Pro 2, which now comes with a Haswell chip and is promising crazy battery life. There’s more. In addition to all new devices, Microsoft also unveiled a new Music Kit, Touch Cover, Type Cove, free Skype and SkyDrive and a Pro Dock for power users.

Neither device is set to hit stores until October, so until that day comes, you can watch the event for yourself or, better yet, check out our quick hands-on of the Surface Pro 2.
