Android 4.4 KitKat Images Leak Out Showing Redesigned Stock Apps

by Sean P. Aune | September 22, 2013

While everyone knows that Android 4.4 KitKat is on its way, we aren’t sure as of yet what exactly will make it different from previous versions. Thanks to some leaked images provided to 9to5Google, we now have some idea of what to expect when the firmware finally makes its debut.

The new images show off  redesigned dialer and messages app with lighter colors than we’ve seen previously. The dialer app looks to have a new keyboard design, and the icons in the status bar now appear to be grey.

Although the images don’t show off any new functionality, the redesign to the apps definitely implies that changes are in play with this update despite just being an incremental update instead of being the 5.0 change we always had assumed the “K” update to Android would bring.

Rumors currently point to an Oct. 14 announcement for Android 4.4 KitKat, the Nexus 5 and an updated Nexus 10. If true, we’re just weeks away from learning everything Google has up its sleeves.
