Kit Kat Claims Android 4.4 Will Launch in October

An employee at Kit Kat may have said something a bit too soon about the release of Android 4.4.

While we’re all fairly positive that Android 4.4 KitKat will be launching in the near future due to the number of leaks we keep seeing, no one knows 100 percent for sure. While normally we would scoff at a social media manager at a candy company knowing anything about a mobile operating system’s release date, when the person works at Kit Kat, the candy the new OS update is named for, you have to at least pause for a moment.

A social media manager on Kit Kat’s German Facebook page was asked by a user, (please note the question and reply are translated) “when Android 4.4 KitKat will be available?” The employee responded with “Tim, Android 4.4 KIT KAT ist ab Oktober verfügbar,” which translates to “Tim, Android 4.4 KIT KAT is available in October.”

Take it for what you will, and we wouldn’t blame you for getting out your salt shakers. With the number of leaks of the Nexus 5 popping up everywhere, the Nexus 10 even showing up in an inventory system and rumors of an Oct. 14 release date, it all seems to be adding up to a new version of Android making its way to users next month.

If the Oct. release is true, we shouldn’t have too much longer to wait to see the media invitations go out. Here’s hoping the German Kit Kat employee knows what they’re talking about.
