Forza Motorsport 5 Hands-on Preview – Realistic Racing

Forza Motorsport has come a long way since its humble beginnings as an Xbox racing simulator made to combat Gran Turismo. Nowadays, it almost seems more prominent on the gaming scene, while racing enthusiasts will always prefer Gran Turismo. The clashing of two audiences.

Forza Motorsport 5 is bringing the series to the new generation for the first time as an exclusive launch title for the Xbox One, making it the highest profile release in the series’ history.

It’s a racing game with “realistic” simulation driving. If this is your kind of thing, then you won’t be let down. I found myself trying to crash through rival cars and going for my boost button with no reward, these are the side effects of a Burnout upbringing.

Next-gen racers lie before us at every turn, and Forza Motorsport 5 is the biggest profile one of them all. The cars look fantastic, and the track looks nice. Racing games are the best genre for showing off graphic capabilities because cars are awesome, fast and flashy.

I drove a Ford Focus, because it’s what my little sister drives, and I actually won the race in it too. I hope the rubber band difficulty curve doesn’t make it into the final product, because those AI cars must have slammed on the breaks in mid race for me to catch up after such a bad start.

Forza Motorsport 5 will be a launch title for the Xbox One on November 22nd.
