Yesterday we saw the first photos suggesting the iPad 5 might come in the same three colors Apple introduced with the iPhone 5s. Now, a leaked copy of the iPad Mini 2’s back casing has revealed that the refreshed 7.9-inch tablet could receive the same treatment. The latest batch of pictures come from French site NoWhereElse, which has a pretty good track record with leaked Apple parts and claims that both new iPads will come in Space Grey, Silver and Gold.
The iPad Mini 2 is expected to come equipped with a Retina Display, compared to the original model’s 1024 x 768-pixel resolution, as well as Apple’s new A7 processor. Meanwhile, the iPad 5 is getting a pretty drastic redesign inspired by its little brother, meaning slimmer bezels and sharper edges than the current model. The 9.7-inch tablet is also expected to get the A7 processor , but otherwise pretty much stay the same. With the two device’s getting such minor updates, it makes sense that Apple would introduce new color options just to mix things up a bit.
Of course, we won’t know anything for sure until Apple makes its big iPad announcement. The company failed to mention its line of tablets during a special event earlier this mont focused on the iPhone 5s and 5c, but we expect another event will take place next month. A recent report pegged the unveiling for Oct. 15 so stay tuned.
