The much-maligned iPhone 5c case, which sports a rather unusual hole punch look, has arrived in TechnoBuffalo’s Irvine office well ahead of the device’s Sept. 20 release. If you ordered one last week, chances are you’ll be receiving yours soon, too (if you haven’t already).
It’s a case, so what’s the big deal? This is essentially the new Antennagate. Following Apple’s announcement last week, controversy erupted around the company’s odd decision to produce a case that many people likened to Crocs. It was already hard enough for folks to swallow Apple’s plastic iPhone 5c, and then a case with holes in it? As many of you may have seen already, putting the case on Apple’s new plastic handset only partially covers up the word iPhone on the back, leaving what looks like “non.” Maybe it was on purpose, but it seems like a detail overlooked by Apple’s usually meticulous designers.
With that said, the case itself feels pretty solid, nice and rigid with a soft touch finish, though it’s a little more pastel than we expected. On the inside, Apple haas included a soft felt material to protect the finish of the company’s iPhone—that is a really nice touch. Did you pre-order an iPhone 5c last week? Cases are already shipping out, and the devices are set to launch in just a few days. That is if supply can keep up with demand.
