AT&T announced on Monday that it will begin taking pre-orders for Samsung’s $300 smartwatch starting tomorrow. The Galaxy Gear, which was unveiled earlier this month alongside the Galaxy Note 3 and refreshed Note 10.1, is set to launch on September 25 in 149 countries.

The carrier announced the news this morning on Twitter, highlighting the smartwatch’s ability to receive notifications, including texts and other messages. The Galaxy Gear also sports a 1.9-megapixel camera, a 1.6-inch Super AMOLED display, a speaker and microphone for making calls, and an open API for third-party apps, including an already-announced Snapchat Micro.
However, if you’re eyeing the Galaxy Gear you may want to hold off for a little longer. Samsung is rumored to be working on a second-generation smartwatch, which could launch as soon as January 2014 at a lower price point and with wider device support. While the current model can only sync to the Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy Note 10.1 2013 edition, the refreshed model could work as a companion for older Samsung devices and even other Android phones and tablets.
