Twitter #Music this week got its very own Spotify app, giving users the ability to easily listen to songs and artists that are trending on the social network. Essentially like the existing app for iOS, Twitter’s new expansion into Spotify—for free and paying customers—means improved discovery and access to an enormous and established library—users even get access to artists playlists and release alerts.
Since launching in April, this is the first time we’ve seen Twitter’s #Music initiative make a leap beyond 140-character territory. The great thing about its new home on Spotify is users essentially get the best of both worlds. Spotify is already a solid tool for discovering music, and in conjunction with Twitter’s social prowess, users should have no shortage of music to listen to. Additionally, users will still have the ability to easily setup playlists, which can then be transferred over to your smartphone.
Twitter’s Spotify app still includes Emerging, Unearthed and Hunted categories, and music is still sliced into different categories, including Alternative, Country, Dance, Folk and more. If Twitter #Music has become a trusted source for music discovery, may as well give its new Spotify app a spin.
