HTC just confirmed the rumors that a metallic blue version of its flagship HTC One will hit stores this weekend, and now we’re learning that a new variant is already in the works. This time, the Taiwanese company is going gold, based on a leaked photo posted on Chinese social network Sina Weibo from the same person who first revealed the blue handset last month.
We know what you’re thinking: Apple announced a gold-colored iPhone just a few days ago and already its competitors are copying the idea. However, in this case we don’t think HTC is responding to Cupertino. The leaked part shows a stamp dated for Aug. 12, meaning the new variant has been in development for a while. And then there’s the fact that a $3,000 gold-covered model is already on the market thanks to Goldgenie.
If you like the way the gold iPhone 5s looks, but prefer Android, then this version of the HTC One may be the phone for you. The flagship handset comes equipped with a 4.7-inch 1920 x 1080-pixel Full HD 1080p display, a quad-core 1.7GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor, 2GB of RAM, either 32 or 64GB of non-expandable storage, a 2,300mAh battery. The device also runs Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean OS out of the box with the company’s own Sense 5 UI on top.
