According to the ever present Evleaks, Nokia’s HD journey into the phablet market will begin Sept. 26. In a new tweet on Wednesday, Evleaks plainly writes that the Nokia Lumia 1520, the company’s rumored 6-inch 1080p smartphone, “launches” in a few weeks. We didn’t expect the device to make its debut so soon, and it’s unclear if the tweet actually means the phablet will launch that day, or if that’s merely a day when Nokia will make an announcement.
Over the past few weeks, we’ve seen a number of pictures of the Lumia 1520, and even the device’s supposed specs, which may include a Snapdragon 800 chip, 2GB of RAM and that aforementioned 1080p display. With the Lumia brand set to go out the window, it certainly appears as though Nokia’s 1520 will be one of its last hurrahs in the smartphone game.
Nokia Lumia 1520: launches 9/26

Will that be on Sept. 26? The Windows Phone 8 GDR3 update isn’t expected until October at the earliest, so it’d be unusual for the Lumia 1520 to make an appearance so soon; it’s a big reason we think Sept. 26 might just be an announcement, with a launch a few weeks later in October. We’ll find out fairly soon.
