RIP Cards for iOS

Back in 2011, which is like eons ago in tech history, Apple introduced an iOS application called Cards. It basically allowed you to create and customize a card from your iOS device and then have it mailed to a loved one. The idea was neat, though we can’t think of anyone we know who actually used it. Apple probably couldn’t either.

That’s why, as of yesterday, the company confirmed to 9to5Mac that it’s killing off the service it once seemed so excited to introduce. The company said that any cards created and ordered before 1:00 p.m. Pacific time yesterday, Sept. 10, will still be delivered. Otherwise, the application now alerts users that the Cards service is “no longer available.”

Good. That’s settled. So go back to using Hallmark.
