Sony just took the wraps off of the Xperia Z1 during the IFA 2013 trade-show in Berlin last week. Now, it looks like the company is following in the same tracks as Samsung and HTC, which launched smaller versions of the flagship Galaxy S4 and HTC One smartphones. A new leak spilled on Tuesday shows a smaller Xperia Z1 next to the full-sized smartphone.

Sony is keeping the same design scheme, as we can see, which hasn’t really changed much over the past several smartphones it has launched. The Xperia Z1 mini won’t sacrifice too much on specs, according to Android Central, and will reportedly still offer the huge 20.7-megapixel camera sensor, the same powerful Snapdragon 800 processor and 2GB of RAM. The biggest trade-off will probably be storage: the Xperia Z1 mini is expected to offer just 8GB out of the box, and it  also will have a smaller 4.3-inch screen that ditches offers a 720p resolution instead of the 1080p display on the full-sized Z1.

Digi-Wo, which originally leaked the Xperia Z1 mini, suggests we might have to wait until Jan. 2014 for the phone to make its debut. Though, by then, it seems like the specs will be relatively outdated. We think it would be much wiser of Sony to get this on the market within the next few months.
