Apple Intros Space Gray iPod Touch, iPod Nano, Shuffle

iPod Touch - Space Grey

Apple’s strange new Space Gray color isn’t exclusive to the company’s brand new iPhone 5S. Following today’s announcement, the company quietly introduced the celestial color to its iPod touch, Nano and Shuffle lines; the new color will join the existing colors of Red, Blue, Yellow, etc. Of course, with Space Gray now an option, Apple is completely removing the black color, which has been criticized for its susceptibility to scratches.

There’s no price difference, merely an additional color. On that front, Apple’s current iPod lineup remains unchanged, meaning we probably can’t expect the iPod touch to receive the iPhone 5S’s new A7 chip, or even new camera tweaks, at least not yet.

The iPod line isn’t exactly flying off shelves, and it’s unlikely a new color will do much to invigorate what’s largely considering an afterthought behind Apple’s more dominant iPhone and iPad families. But Space Gray is so in right now, so why not?
