Sony announced today that an unlocked version of its Xperia Tablet Z 4G LTE is now available for purchase in the U.S. through its online store. The 16GB 10.1-inch Android slate with no contract clocks in at $629.

The Xperia Tablet Z 4G LTE comes equipped with a 10.1-inch 1200 x 1920-pixel display, 16GB of memory upgradeable to 64GB via microSD card, 2GB of RAM, an 8.1-megapixel rear camera, a 2.2-megapixel front-facing camera, a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor clocked at 1.5GHz, and runs Android Jelly Bean OS.

Sony’s tablet is also one of the thinnest around, coming in at just 6.9mm, which makes the 9.4mm fourth generation iPad look bloated by comparison. However, with Apple expected to launch a slimmer iPad 5 this fall you may want to hold off for a bit before buying a new tablet.
