Following an earlier video showing off a supposed iPad 5 rear shell, Unbox Therapy has returned with what is allegedly a back plate for Apple’s upcoming iPad mini 2. As expected, the shell looks aesthetically identical to the previous generation, so it doesn’t look like there will be any big changes on that front. It’s looking more likely the device will see improved specs and a possible display upgrade, though reports have conflicted about whether or not Apple’s iPad mini will receive the Retina treatment.
Apple has an event schedules for Sept. 10, though we’re not expecting any iPad announcements. Still, given how close we’re getting to the end of 2013, it’s likely we’ll hear about Apple’s new tablets sooner rather than later. If you missed today’s glimpse of Apple’s iPad 5 shell, it looks like the bigger tab will feature a significant redesign in line with the company’s iPad mini, meaning the device will have minimal side bezel and more rounded edges.
