Sometimes it’s nice to own a physical copy of a book. I still buy both print and eBook copies of a lot of novels, mostly because I like real books at home but don’t want to lug them around during my travels. Amazon is making this even easier now, with the introduction of “MatchBook,” which lets you buy the eBook copy of the books you purchase in print at a discount.
The price varies depending on the title, though never costs more than a few bucks. Books will be available for either free, 99 cents, $1.99 or $2.99 and the benefit will apply to more than 10,000 titles, including some best sellers. It applies to most books purchased all the way back to 1995, Amazon said, provided that they were new and not used acquisitions. MatchBook will also have a history of those old purchases so you can quickly find and download the new eBook versions to your Kindle.
MatchBook launches in October.

Print purchases all the way back to 1995—when Amazon first opened its online bookstore—will qualify once a publisher enrolls a title in Kindle MatchBook. Bundling print and digital has been one of the most requested features from customers. With Kindle MatchBook, they can keep their favorite book on their shelf, and have a copy in their digital library for reading, perhaps re-reading it with features like X-Ray and Popular Highlights.
