Instagram claimed another celebrity today, rock legend Paul McCartney—or more likely his personal assistant—signed up for an account on the Facebook-owned social network. McCartney didn’t waste anytime, quickly uploading a short teaser of the title track from his upcoming album, “New.” Soon afterward, a full-length cut of the same song was posted to YouTube.
The ex-Beatle is already pretty active online and boasts over 1.5 million followers on Twitter. Unfortunately, his tweets appear mostly automated and promotional, but we’re hoping his Instagram account will offer a more personal window into the life of the aging rockstar.
President Obama’s administration also set up an Instagram account earlier this summer, promising a behind-the-scenes look at life in the White House. The President attracted 5,000 followers in his first day on the social network and now boasts over 100,000, while McCartney already has 9,000 Instagram users currently following him.
