Samsung Galaxy NX Camera Hits U.S. in Oct. Starting at $1599

Samsung announced the official U.S. release date and price for its Galaxy NX smart-camera today. The Android-powered interchangeable lens mirrorless camera will go on sale starting in Oct., just in time for all your holiday shopping, for the lofty price of $1,599. That only includes the body without an actual lens. If you want the 18-55mm lens as well you’ll have to cough up an additional $100.

The Galaxy NX comes equipped with a 4.8-inch LCD display, a 1.6GHz quad-core processor, 16GB of storage upgradeable to 64GB via microSD card, and 2GB of RAM. It runs Android 4.2 with full access to the entire Google Play app store and comes with Samsung’s own Smart Mode software, which offers 30 different settings.

The 18-55 mm lens takes 20-megapixel shots and should take better photos that the Galaxy Camera. Once you’ve snapped a picture you can instantly put it online directly from the camera using Wi-Fi or LTE
