Nintendo announced this morning in a press release that the Deluxe version of the Wii U will sell for $299.99 this holiday. That’s a cut of $50.
The news came in a press release with a slew of other information. This is how Nintendo announced the discount in the release.
New Suggested Retail Price – Wii U Deluxe Set
Starting Sept. 20, the Deluxe version of Nintendo’s Wii U system will be reduced in price by $50, to a new suggested retail price of just $299.99. The new price makes Wii U an even greater value, particularly with the strong lineup of Wii U games available and on the way for the system in 2013. These include Pikmin 3, The Wonderful 101, EarthBound, New Super Luigi U, The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD, Super Mario 3D World and Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze.
Nintendo also announced, officially, a previously rumored Wind Waker HD bundle. Get the Wii U with a specially painted GamePad for $299.99. The system sells on Sept. 20, and it includes a code to download the game from the eShop on the same day.
Of course, Nintendo is hoping the new price and slate of great titles ushers in a lot more commercial success for the Wii U. Games is what this system needs, and they’re on the way.
Has the drop in price pushed you towards picking one up? Or, are you waiting for more games?
