For this slightly beleaguered Ratchet & Clank fan, Into the Nexus stands as one of the last great hopes for a series that I used to love oh-so-much.
Ratchet & Clank Future: A Crack in Time is, as far as I’m concerned, the last time Insomniac Games developed a game worthy of the franchise’s name and history. The All 4 One cooperative romp and Full Frontal Assault are miles below what the studio is capable of here.
That’s why it’s exciting that the buzz surrounding Ratchet & Clank: Into the Nexus suggests that this game is a return to form. The screenshots above look good enough. The visuals are fantastic, though that hasn’t been too big of a problem, and there are some silly Christmas shenanigans happening as well.
Ratchet & Clank: Into the Nexus is on track to quietly launch for the PlayStation 3 this November. It’s yet another reason why I won’t be unhooking my PS3 from my TV for a while. I’ll celebrate the clutter, friends, as long as this game is good.
