Final Fantasy X‘s gorgeous graphics are not the only thing getting a major overhaul for the upcoming Final Fantasy X | X2 HD Remaster. The game’s amazing score is also getting a boost with over 60 of the musical tracks being rearranged and remastered in HD audio.

A trailer provided by Square Enix compares the original audio from the game’s battle music to the new audio found in the HD version.

I’ve had this song crammed into my head over the last decade of my life thanks to sinking an unhealthy amount of hours into Final Fantasy X. Trust me when I say the new version sounds glorious. It’s still recognizable, but it’s free from the shackles of the PlayStation 2’s wonks and wails. I can never get enough of Final Fantasy X‘s soundtrack, one of the best in the series, and this updated version gives me even more reason to be excited about this package.

I wonder what other tracks have been given the same treatment. The battle theme is great, but I’ve also been a huge fan of the gruff Auron’s Theme and the tranquil Besaid Island. Any tracks you particularly like?

Final Fantasy X | X2 HD Remaster will be released this holiday season exclusively for the PlayStation 3 at $39.99. It’s bound to be one of the last great HD collections of this generation, so hopefully the trend goes out with a bang.
