I remember when The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker was initially unveiled for the GameCube back in the early 2000s. I distinctly recall arguing with friends in school about whether or not the cartoony look was a good fit for the Zelda series. I fell in the camp that loved the aesthetic, while a few close friends felt it was plain horrific.
Then we all played the game. Everyone fell in love with the look and feel of Wind Waker, so there’s an extra wave of nostalgia that comes rushing in every time Nintendo releases a fresh batch of screenshots for this HD upgrade.
The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD will hit the Wii U this October. While we don’t know its exact release date, we do know what the boxart in North America will look like and exactly how much storage space the digital version will require.
As more comes for the game, we’ll have it.
