rain Coming to PlayStation Store on October 1st

Could rain be the next indie sensation for Sony and the booming PlayStation Store? We won’t have to wait very long to find out; an official Oct. 1 release date has been confirmed by Sony.

Somber and atmospheric, rain continues in the tradition of Journey and The Unfinished Swan, creating a chilling mood and emotional tale designed to mystify rather than excite. Two ghastly children must fend for themselves on a cold a rainy night, and the busy world is unaware of their invisible plight. Only the rain gives them any shape.

To really drive home the feelings they want you to experience, the talented teams as Japan Studios and PlayStation C.A.M.P. have put a lot of effort into the game’s soundtrack. rain‘s composer, Yugo Kanno, has released a short dev diary explaining his inspirations and very European style of music. Britain’s Got Talent contestant Connie Talbot also explains her excitement at working on the project.

Sony has unveiled a very generous pre-order bonus for those who order the game before Sept. 30 which will include a free dynamic theme, static theme, five avatars and a musical montage further showing off the game’s fantastic score. The game will sell for $14.99.

Japan Studio and PlayStation C.A.M.P. already scored big with the fun release of Tokyo Jungle last year, so I am thrilled to check out their follow up. Check out our thoughts on rain shortly after it is released.
