The Elder Scrolls Online Will Cost $15 a Month

Bethesda’s The Elder Scrolls Online will officially carry a monthly subscription. You’ll need to pay to play, folks, simple as that.

The news comes from Gamescom and an interview between Zenimax Online GM Matt Firor and Gamestar, a German gaming publication.

Firor indicates that the first month of The Elder Scrolls Online will be free with the purchase of the full game. During that month, you can play until your heart’s content. After that, you’ll need to pay $14.99 in order to continue.

That $15 a month fee is the baseline subscription model. Bethesda has not announced specifics yet, but there will be cheaper plans available if you buy in bulk rather than on a monthly basis.

Will you be willing to part with $15 a month to play ESO? Or, are subscription-based MMOs slowly becoming an industry relic?
