Sony’s upcoming Honami flagship, which we’ve seen numerous times ahead of its alleged Sept 4. announcement, may go by Xperia Z1 when it officially launches later this year. As noted by a few separate Twitter accounts, Sony’s hyped and oft-leaked 20-megapixel superphone will be the new king of the Xperia line—not all that expected when you consider how committed Sony has been beginning with the Xperia Z at CES earlier this year.

The device’s overall specs are still up for debate, but here’s what we’ve heard so far: the Xperia Z1 will come equipped with a 5-inch Full HD screen, a 20-megapixel camera, a Snapdragon 800 quad-core CPU, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage (microSD expandable) and a 3,000mAh battery. A powerful flagship to be sure, though every other handset getting announced in the next few months, such as Samsung’s Galaxy Note III, may sport similar specs, so it’ll come down to how each company can differentiate the products.

September 4 is only a few weeks away, so we’ll find out the full details soon. Based on what we know, would you choose something like this over a Galaxy Note III, or even an HTC One Max?
