Sony is expected to launch the Honami, a 20-megapixel flagship smartphone, next month at the IFA expo in Berlin, but now we’re learning that the Japanese company may also be prepping a scaled down Honami Mini. The device was initially leaked on Esato, an online forum, and recently uncovered by GSM Insider.

The Honami Mini looks like a sleek rectangular device, based on the simplified rendering. The handset allegedly comes equipped with a 4.3-inch 720p Triluminos display, a 20-megapixel rear camera, a 2,400mAh battery, a 2.2GHz processor, 2GB of RAM, and 16GB of storage expandable via microSD card. If these specs are accurate, Sony may be the first company to release a mini-handset with flagship-level specs. The Galaxy S4 mini and HTC One mini, for example, have smaller bodies and lower-end specs than their flagship counterparts. For now, however, we’ll take these rumors with grain of salt.

Earlier this month, Sony sent out an invitation for a Sept. 4 media event located in Berlin. We expect the Japanese company to use the press conference to unveil the flagship Hanomi, which comes equipped with a 5-inch display, 1080p display, a 3,000mAh battery, 2GB of RAM and a 2.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor. However, it seems unlikely we’ll also see the Mini version at the same launch event – though anything is possible.
