Moto X Custom Engraving Feature Being Put On Hold Due to Quality Issues

Part of Motorola’s Moto X Moto Maker process is the ability to engrave your device with an individual message, maybe something inspiring or sentimental. But it appears that feature is being put on hold by Motorola because of unforeseen manufacturing issues. The company reportedly told Computerworld’s J.R. Raphael that etching quality from its beta tests returned poor results, and that the option won’t be offered until results meet Motorola’s standards.

The real meat of Motorola’s Moto Maker feature, which is an AT&T exclusive for now, is the option to dictate certain colors of a device, so this latest development might not damper its release all that much. Plus, we didn’t notice any issues on our unit at all. Still, hopefully assembling and manufacturing issues won’t affect the Moto X’s release, because it’s one heck of a device.
