A fresh report from The Wall Street Journal claims Apple will ship two iPhone models this Sept. Sources close to the company’s plans say Apple has asked Foxconn, its biggest manufacturing partner, to begin shipping both high-end and low-end models in the next few weeks, suggesting the rumored Sept. 10 announcement date is spot on. This will be the first time Apple has introduced two distinct iPhone models.

Multiple rumors have spread over the past couple months claiming Apple is on target to unveil an iPhone 5S and budget iPhone 5C, the latter of which we’ve seen an uncountable amount of times. Apple’s iPhone 5S will supposedly come with more powerful internals, and also sport an alleged biometric fingerprint scanner for increased security. The iPhone 5C, on the other hand, will be a lower-powered option that is expected to ship in multiple color options.

We always expected Apple to release its brand new iPhone(s) in September, and it appears that will be the case. WSJ is typically a high-level source with accurate information, so we’re inclined to believe its reports. Of course, we won’t have official confirmation until Apple reveals its plans, possibly in a few weeks, so we’re still treating this as a rumor. We’ll find out soon enough.
