AT&T announced Friday morning that it will begin selling the Motorola Moto X smartphone on Aug. 23. The device can be customized online through the MotoMaker, which we showed you earlier this morning, and will ship within four days of your order placement. The 16GB model will cost $199.99 with a new two-year contract while the 32GB option will be available for $249.99 with a two-year contract. AT&T will also allow customers to purchase the device with its Next early upgrade plans, under which the 16GB model will cost $27 per month and the 32GB option will cost $32 per month.
Anyone who registered early at www.att.com/MotoX will be able to design their device on Aug. 19 and should receive it earlier than other customers. The MotoMaker studio lets you choose between 16 colors, 7 accents, white or black front panels, add custom etchings and more. As a quick refresher, the device runs Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean with very little customization on top, save for awesome additions by Motorola such as improved Google Now, Active Display notifications and more. It also packs a Snapdragon S4 Pro processor, a 4.7-inch 720p display and a 10-megapixel camera.
We recently customized our own Moto X through MotoMaker and we’ll report back on the final quality when it arrives, hopefully early next week.
