With Bloomberg backing up claims that Samsung will unveil the Galaxy Gear smartwatch next month at a press event scheduled for Sept. 4, the upcoming wearable device seems all but confirmed. And now we’ve got a first taste at what the Galaxy Gear may pack under its hood, thanks to an anonymous tipster who passed the information on to SamMobile.
These Galaxy Gear specs are still unconfirmed but they match up with our expectations for what the device should be able to do. Samsung’s smartwatch will allegedly come equipped with a dual-core 1.5GHz Exynos 4212 processor, an ARM Mali-400 MP4 GPU, 1GB of RAM, an 1.67-inch 320 x 320-pixel AMOLED display, a 2-megapixel camera, Bluetooth and NFC.
In its own report, Bloomberg asserted that the Galaxy Gear will not feature a flexible display, contradicting earlier rumors and concept designs. The wearable device is expected to serve as a companion to Galaxy-branded smartphones, providing easy access to email, text messages and music controls.
