The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt’s Fantastic “Killing Monsters” Cinematic

CD Projekt RED hosted one of the best press demos at E3 this past year. In spite of offering only an eyes-on presentation, something a lot of folks truly disdain, the Polish studio wowed tons of convention goers with nearly 60 minutes of direct, uncut gameplay.

It was one of our favorite games at the show, and we gave it tons of praise within our written coverage.

Before they actually got into the gameplay during their presentation, they showed us a brief cinematic to reintroduce us to The Witcher universe. That cinematic has officially been released for public viewing, and it’s the video you’ll find embedded at the top of this post.

One of the things I like most about CD Projekt RED’s efforts with The Witcher franchise is that they’ve managed to establish a world that’s both familiar and entirely unique. We all understand the now ancient warrior tropes that this fiction employs, but the source material and game developers add in extra layers of monstrosity and terror to make the franchise really worth exploring.

We’ll get our chance to explore the game when it releases in 2014. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will launch for the PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4. We’ll have more on the game as it comes.
