Plants vs. Zombies 2: It’s About Time Hitting iOS Devices Aug. 15

PopCap’s much anticipated sequel to Plants vs. Zombies, Plants vs. Zombies 2: It’s About Time, will finally hit the iOS App Store on Aug. 15. The App Store’s Facebook page revealed the news on Wednesday, fittingly saying, “It’s about time,” referring to the game’s long and delayed development cycle.

The second game in the beloved tower defense-style series was first teased back in May as a free-to-play iOS exclusive. But as a lot of games tend to do, the title was delayed—mitigated by an amazing surprise at E3—with a nebulous “later this summer” timeframe. The overall style of play will remain the same, but players this time will get all new plants, new locations and new elements to contend with.

It’s about darn time. Hopefully nothing disastrous happens between now and tomorrow, because I’m really itching to get my hands on the PopCap’s sequel.
