From Software has a quick teaser for its upcoming sequel, Dark Souls 2. Each game in the Souls series has allowed for deep character customization and a nearly infinite amount of builds that can be made. The new live-action trailer shows off exactly what you need to forge a hero.
Not really, though. If Dark Souls 2 carries in the brutal tradition of its predecessors, Demon’s Souls and Dark Souls, then a little fire and steel might not be enough to take this poor protagonist through the hell that awaits him. What really makes a good hero in the Souls universe is immortality and an endless pit of unwavering patience. Fire and steel is just an afterthought.
I always go with a decent backstabbing knife and as light of armor as possible, but then again, most people tackle the game differently. How do you build your Dark Souls hero?
The live-action trailer itself doesn’t reveal too much about the game, but the hard rock music is a far cry from the traditional somber feel of the series. This sounds more like a trailer aimed at the casual first-timer market the game’s new director claims to be going for. Don’t worry, because From Software has said that this game is going to appeal to the hardcore user base as well.
Dark Souls 2 is being released for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC on March 14, 2014.
