Over the weekend AllThingsD said that it had learned Apple will hold a press event on Sept. 10 to discuss the future of its iPhone. Now, industry expert Jim Dalrymple expressed his own confirmation, giving his famous “Yep” of approval for the date. Typically such a confirmation doesn’t hold a lot of water, at least when it comes from most people, but Dalrymple has a perfect track record confirming Apple news. If it’s not perfect, we don’t know the last time he was wrong.
Apple’s event will likely take place in San Francisco, as it usually does, and we’re expecting CEO Tim Cook to take the stage and discuss the iPhone 5S in addition to a budget iPhone 5C. The latter device should hit emerging markets, specifically China, in a variety of colors. It will likely cater to carriers such as China Mobile, which has yet to offer an Apple iPhone, though it’s possible it will make an appearance in the United States, too.
The iPhone 5S should offer a faster processor, an improved camera, a dual-LED flash and a fingerprint scanner for security purposes. The iPhone 5C has a plastic body and will have specs below those of the iPhone 5S. We imagine both phones will hit the market shortly after the press event. TechnoBuffalo will be covering all of the news that breaks on September 10, so stay tuned for more information.
Correction: The third paragraph has corrected a reference to the iPhone 5C that should have said iPhone 5S.
