Final Fantasy X sports some of the best looking summons in the series, and the Final Fantasy X | X-2 HD Remaster is about to make them that much more gorgeous. A new batch of screenshots from Square Enix shows off longtime summon monsters Ifrit and Shiva with the new upgrade.
Fans who have been around Final Fantasy for a long time can easily pick out the two series mainstays. Final Fantasy X is one of the last times Square Enix has turned to the classic creature designs as most subsequent games either dropped them from the roster or took some extreme liberties with the characters.
I know a lot of people don’t consider Final Fantasy X to be in line with the older games in the series, but at least it did not turn Shiva into a motorcycle.
Several other screenshots show off the beautiful world of Spira. Its expansive landscapes and environments still look amazing; however, the character faces are still not clicking with my brain. Titus looks just straight up awkward, and I can’t put my finger on why. Maybe I’m just used to the duller textures at this point. He never bothered me in the original release.
A single screenshot from Final Fantasy X-2 shows off one of the job class costumes Yuna wears as well as the game’s trophy support.
I can’t wait to run through Final Fantasy X again. It’s one of my favorites in the series, and trophy support for some of the more difficult end game scenarios is going to push the limits of my gaming pride. Veterans know what I mean. Final Fantasy X‘s secret bosses don’t mess around.
Final Fantasy X | X-2 HD Remaster is going to be released this holiday season for the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita. No official date has been set yet for America or Japan.
