Now Microsoft is Going After the iPad Mini

Microsoft hasn’t had much success with its Surface RT, and devices showcased in its Apple-bashing commercials haven’t fared much better. But that hasn’t deterred the company in the least, because now Microsoft is going directly after Apple’s highly successful iPad mini. It’s kind of sad in a way, to see Microsoft so desperately try and bash a competing product that’s so clearly in a different league sales-wise.

The newest ad is typical of Microsoft’s latest versus commercials; the basic premise is to showcase what Windows RT is capable of, while Apple’s products are portrayed as much less powerful and only used for simple tasks. Microsoft uses the 8.1-inch Acer Iconia W3 as fodder for the comparison, though – and this is only a guess – I’m not so sure many consumers have even heard of the Iconia W3, or care.

Still, the Iconia can play Halo and handle Microsoft Office documents, and is cheaper. The end punchline is pretty funny, but current iPad mini owners (or potential owners) probably don’t mind the price difference whatsoever. Keep trying, Microsoft.
