Yahoo announced recently that it’s going to soon unveil its new logo to the world. Oddly, instead of just showing it to us right away, the company said that it’s going to “get everyone warmed up” for the new design by changing its logo every day from now until September 5, when the final iteration will make its debut. “It’s our way of having some fun while honoring the legacy of our present logo,” chief marketing officer Kathy Savitt said.
Today’s logo is included above. We’re not quite sure why Yahoo needs to show us different designs for the next month or so, but we imagine it’s part of the whole marketing gig to get everyone interested in what Yahoo is doing. The company is lagging behind Google and other competitors, though CEO Marissa Mayer has arguably done the right thing by pushing a new focus on the firm’s mobile products. We’ve seen a few new revamps, including an amazing weather app on iOS, but there’s still a long way to go.
Yahoo promises it will keep its exclamation mark in the logo. We’ll keep you in the loop when the final one arrives.
