Apple is expected to release its fifth-generation iPad in the not-so-distant future as part of its “very busy fall” and the refreshed tablet is rumored to be even thinner and sleeker than the current model. The company has yet to confirm that it’s working on a new full-sized tablet, but a new YouTube video from Japanese site MacOtakara appears to reveal an alleged copy of the device’s back panel side-by-side with the current iPad 4 and iPad Mini.
The latest iPad 5 leak doesn’t reveal much and it’s hard to verify the rumors we’ve already heard based on this sometimes-blurry video. The refreshed tablet is expected to be thinner than the fourth generation iPad and feature a slimmer bezel design similar to the iPad mini. While it’s tough to tell whether the device’s thickness has changed, the bezel does appear to closely resemble the mini’s, with its thinner vertical edges and wider horizontal edges that give the device a somewhat uneven look.
A photo of the back casing for what looked like the iPad 5 also leaked over the weekend, revealing a similar design, but a fishy Apple logo on the component had us wondering if it was a fake or just a rejected copy. There’s no way to know for sure quite yet, but we expect Apple to officially announced the new tablet next month.
