Ubisoft has released four brand new screenshots that show off the present day locale in Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag.
Personally, I understand the need for the present day element in the Assassin’s Creed franchise; however, I think it’s something the series would be much better without. The present day flashes do little to further my appreciation of the games, and I’d much rather see an Assassin’s Creed that sticks in the past rather than flashing between two points in time.
What’s wrong with a franchise that chronicles the historical war between a group of Assassins and Templar? I’d play that.
Regardless of my opinions, of course, Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag will obviously have a present day narrative. Abstergo Industries is clearly in the entertainment business in the new era, so there’s that. If Abstergo Entertainment sells music, maybe Ubisoft has built another layer into the “piracy” narrative here.
Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag will drop on the Xbox 360, Playstation 3, Wii U and PC platforms on Oct 30, 2013. It will also hit the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on or near their launch dates. We’ll have more on the game as it comes.
