BioShock Infinite’s “Burial at Sea” DLC Sends us Back to Rapture

Ever wonder what BioShock‘s Rapture looked like before the citizens went mad and turned into Splicers? Now’s your chance to find out.

BioShock Infinite‘s first DLC, “Burial at Sea – Episode 1,” puts Booker and Elizabeth as playable characters in the underwater “paradise” of Rapture. Here’s how the game’s setup is described as per the official trailer’s YouTube description:

Explore the city when it was at the height of its beauty, meet some old “friends,” and make some new ones, all through the eyes of Booker DeWitt. Why are Booker and Elizabeth in Rapture? What was the city like before everything fell to pieces? The answers to these questions and more will be found in BioShock Infinite: Burial at Sea — Episode 1.

This is a two part narrative for Booker and Elizabeth, and it’s being built almost entirely from the ground up.

No official release date for the DLC was given in the trailer or announcement. It’s listed as “Coming Soon” for the PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 platforms. You can buy the DLC as part of the $19.99 season pass, which will include three packs, or you can get it as it comes for $15.00 each.

Also available starting today is the “Clash in the Clouds” DLC, a $4.99 set of challenges that will pit Booker against a whole host of enemies and tough situations in four new areas.

We’ll have more on “Burial at Sea” as it comes.
