Kingdom Hearts isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. It isn’t going anywhere especially quickly either, but the long awaited third game in Square Enix’s Disney/Final Fantasy mash-up will not be the end of the series, according to creator Tetsuya Nomura.

Kingdom Hearts 3, bound for both the Xbox One and PlayStation 4, will see Sora and his friends wrap up their current battle with the enemy forces that be, Nomura confirmed in an interview with the L.A. Times.

“But the series will continue. Only the particular enemy they have been fighting for the past 10 years will come to an end.”

I might get around to playing Kingdom Hearts 3 someday. I still haven’t gone through Kingdom Hearts 2 because it looked like the fun little novelty of seeing Final Fantasy and Disney characters in the same game became an afterthought of the gloomy story. If an HD version ever gets released, then that will be the best chance I have to catch up with everyone else.
