When Apple’s fifth generation iPad releases later this year, expect it to look a lot different. According to a number of leaks, including schematics and supply reports, Apple will introduce an iPad mini-like design to its larger tablet line, giving the device a potentially smaller frame overall. And, well, it looks pretty darn good in these new mockups, created by none other than prolific artist Martin Hajek.
These are solely based on specifications and rumors, not any definitive information. But seeing as the iPad hasn’t really gone through a major makeover in the last two iterations (or even three), it’s not hard to believe Apple will introduce a different design. It would be crazy not to, especially after seeing how lovely it can potentially look in these renders.
Even though we know next to nothing about Apple’s upcoming iPad, I’d guess the real deal will look near-identical to these mockups. In a report as recent was Wednesday, sources claimed the refreshed tablet would sport a slimmer bezel, and a lighter and thinner design. Edges are more rounded, and it’s not quite as tall or wide, among other differences.
Of course, we won’t know for sure what Apple’s iPad refresh will look like until the company shows us. But even before the device’s potential September release, this could be our best look yet at the tablet’s future.
