We’re already expecting a slew of new devices from Apple this year, including a new flagship iPhone, the rumored low-cost iPhone, the iPad 5 and a refreshed MacBook Pro, but now you can add another device to the lineup, a redesigned Mac mini. MacRumors recently noticed that the Mac mini (2012 edition) has suddenly started shipping in 5-7 days instead of the usual 24 hours, suggesting that a new model may be in the works.
There’s no proof that the delayed shipping timeframe has anything to do with an upcoming refresh, and in the past we’ve seen the same thing happen both ahead of a new release or simply due to temporary supply issues. Then again, Apple previously hinted that it’s “on track for a very busy fall,” so anything’s possible.
There’s no telling what a Mac mini refresh might entail either, although it’s possible that Apple could upgrade the computer with a new Haswell processor. The Mac mini currently comes in three different models ranging from $599 for 500GB to $999 for the mini with OS X Server and two 1TB hard drives.
