Rumors that Google would jack up the price for the new Nexus 7 from its current $200 price point have been circulating online for a while now, and a leaked Best Buy ad for the refreshed tablet appears to confirm that the 16GB model will cost $229.99. This news lines up with a report from last week that also suggested a 32GB model will retail for $269.
Best Buy’s sales circular for the Nexus 7 successor also reveals that the tablet will feature a 1920 x 1200-pixel display and hints that the device will be “available Tuesday.” Unfortunately, we seriously doubt the ad is referring to tomorrow (July 23). It’s more likely that the new tablet will hit the market next week on Tuesday, July 30 at the earliest, following Google’s planned press event on July 24.
Google sent out an official media invite for the event last week, announcing a breakfast with Android head Sundar Pichai, where he’s likely to unveil the rumored Android 4.3 update as well as the new Nexus 7.
