Don’t Expect The Division Until Late 2014

The Division will be Ubisoft’s next massive franchise. This post-apocalyptic, open world shooter with an emphasis on multiplayer is currently bound to the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

When? That’s the question.

During yesterday’s investor call, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot was asked to clarify when consumers will be able to buy The Division. Guillemont indicated that Ubisoft doesn’t expect to release the shooter until late 2014. Here’s the quote Joystiq pulled from the call:

“We can expect it will be closer to the end of the year than the beginning…”

So, any time after July 2014, then?

Ever since its debut at E3 more than a month ago, The Division has been among one of the most sought after next generation titles. I expect Ubisoft would want to drop it in the middle of its holiday lineup, and not during the summer.

That’s just a guess, of course. We’ll know for sure in the next year or so.
