A new job posting from Motorola confirms that the company is committed to diving into the growing field of wearable technology. A listing on the company’s own website reveals it is seeking a new “senior director of industrial design-wearables,” suggesting that Motorola is looking for a fresh take on the already-already crowded market after the false start that was the MOTOACTV smartwatch.
Motorola is apparently looking for someone with at least five years of experience in industrial design and fifteen years in the tech or apparel industry to head the company’s wearable design team. The new executive will “lead the establishment of our brand in the massive and growing space of wearable connected products.”
Wearable technology may be a growing field, but companies are already gearing up to flood the market with smartwatches, HUD devices and other gadgets. Whoever Motorola hires will need some sharp elbows and sharper ideas to compete with Apple, Samsung and the rest, even with Google’s support.
