Microsoft Trashes iPad in New Surface RT Commercial

The Microsoft Surface RT hasn’t exactly been a success for Microsoft. In fact, the company sunk $900 million into the failed tablet last quarter. Even still, Microsoft is trying to sway consumers in favor of its device over the iPad, this time with yet another commercial that trashes Apple’s successful device.

The commercial starts out with the familiar faux-Siri voice stating, “Oh no. Here we go again.” (Trust us, we thought the same thing). Microsoft then highlights that the Surface RT can stand on its own – though the angle is absolutely terrible in practice – and that it has a USB port for accessing thumb drives and a real keyboard. Though, to be fair, there are dozens and dozens of third party keyboards for the iPad that work just fine.

Microsoft closes the commercial highlighting the new $349 price tag for the 32GB Surface RT, which is cheaper than the $599 you’ll pay for Apple’s 32GB iPad. Sure, the Surface RT has a few redeeming features, but there’s a huge lack of applications in comparison to the iOS app store. Guess Microsoft has to make up for that $900 million loss one way or another.
