Undead Labs had mentioned a PC release of the Xbox Live surprise hit of the summer State of Decay in the past, but it has now confirmed in a livestream that one will be available before the end of 2013.
When released in early June, State of Decay destroyed all expectations and became the fastest selling original Xbox live Arcade game of all time and coming second overall to none other than Minecraft. The game sold a whopping 250,000 units in two days and 700,000 in a single month.
Early access to the game on PC will only feature controller support, but the full on final product guarantees WASD and mouse controls. The PC version of the game will also feature higher resolution textures and more consistent frame rates.
Undead Labs also teased the game’s sandbox mode on its forums, stating:
Without going into too much detail (although details are coming within a week), you start in the world, build your community, clean the valley out – and when it runs dry, you can leave with some portion of your community and go to “the next valley.” The next valley is the same map, repopulated with resources…but harder. More zombies. More difficulty. Just…more.
I only played the demo on Xbox Live, and what I took from it was a decent little game to play during the slow summer months. Is it really nothing more than that, or is this the bonafide hit sales are making it out to be?
